Pipeline weak link
Pipeline weak links are incorporated in subsea pipelines and are designed to separate in the event of accidental load such as iceberg impact, dragged anchors, etc. The unit is pressure-balanced by design to maintain integrity under all internal pressure situations, but will separate when a given external force is applied. The weak link will then separate, protecting the rest of the installation.
